A Matter of Perpective

18 August 09

Qalqiliya - Ma’an - Israeli forces demolished five car garages south of Qalqiliya without prior notice and without giving reasons to any of the garage owners.

Local sources said the buildings are owned by Muhammad Al-Sarawy, Bassam Zeid, Muhammad Zeid, Muhammad Ania, and David Bakr, all in the Azzun Atma area.

During the demolitions soldiers closed off the entrance to the village and prevented all access to the area.

Police destroy Kalkilya chop shops without PA police aid
Dr. Aaron Lerner
IMRA
19 August 2009

Israel Police's Etgar Unit Etgar head Yehuda Atar corrected an Israel Radio
correspondent in a live interview broadcast on the afternoon news magazine
for claiming that their raid of auto chop shops in Kalkilya was carried out
with the cooperation of PA security forces.

"I want to point out that the operation was carried out without any
cooperation from the PA", Atar noted.

Atar explained that contrary to previous raids in which Israeli forces
retrieved a few stolen cars from Palestinian auto chop shops, in this case
the Israelis decimated the shops - destroying all the cars, car parts and
equipment in the chop shops in the hopes that the Palestinians dealing in
stolen Israeli cars would suffer a substantial financial loss as a result of
the operation.
